- ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆The rates are awful, but the teller was friendly enough. I was exchanging US for Canadian currency. Their rate was $1 US buys 0.9055 Canadian. The actual international rate is 1.00 USD = 1.03569 CAD. So they pocket 13%, plus a $9.95 fee for buying less than $500. - ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆Exchange your money at the airport. Travelex gave 98 yen/dollar when the exchange rate was 109 yen/dollar. That's a big ol difference. Plus it smells pretty weird in there. Airports will only take about 1% vs the 10% travelex took. Anti-travelex forever.By Cory Hayden, November 28, 2016
